Like most travelers, we don’t have unlimited vacation time or an unlimited travel budget. So when we go somewhere, we want to make it count.
Our trips tend to move pretty quickly. We’ll hit the places we’ve dreamed about seeing, but some of our favorite travel memories have come from going a little beyond the obvious itinerary—spending a day in Spanish wine country, taking a train across Japan for an unexpected day trip, or finding an experience we never would have discovered if we’d stayed on the usual tourist route.
